The Breville BCG450XL Conical Burr Grinder is one of our favorites here at BurrCoffeeGrind.com. Obviously since we only look at products that are burr grinders or include them, a good burr grinder is essential to getting a good review. Units like the Breville BCG450XL go a little further, which makes them a pleasure to use.

The thing that impressed us most was the quality of the grind. The BCG450XL allows for variable grinding from coarse (for percolators) to ultra-fine (for Turkish coffee), and across the entire range, the grinder offered exceptionally even ground size, which in turn produced great tasting coffee. The conical burr is removable for easy cleaning, and the Breville offered one feature that we really loved–anti-static technology so the grounds were not completely frustrating to remove, as they are from lower-end grinders.

That said, the Breville frustrated a small percentage of our reviewers for not being easier to clean. A few of the people on the team did not have as much success with the anti-static feature and found the unit very difficult to clean. This was unusual since the vast majority of us found the unit much easier to clean than most.

One other feature that sold us was aesthetics–the BCG450XL is one of the best looking grinders out there. A few people on our panel said it was the one device they would leave on their counters even if they were putting their coffee maker away! If you are looking for a conical grinder in the $100-150 price range, especially if you plan to only have one grinder, this is a great way to go. Home users will find this to be perfect for most needs. Businesses may find they need more than the 1/2 capacity, unless it is for a specialty grind. But the bottom line on this grinder is very positive–it is high quality, looks great, and offers some built in extras that our team appreciated.
